Priorities

For too long, Senate Republicans have failed to address the issues Americans truly care about.  Republican leaders in Congress have refused to hold the White House accountable for the mess the administration has made in Iraq.  Middle class families continue to struggle with skyrocketing energy prices and health care costs.  And too many Americans face unemployment and the loss of their hard-earned pensions.

Of course, Republicans in Congress have found plenty of time for the agenda preferred by right-wing special interests.  The list is pretty incredible.

• They are trying to pass a new federal budget that includes drastic cuts for Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Stamps, just when we need these important programs the most.
  
• They simply pile on even more tax cuts for the rich in the face of any crisis from a costly war overseas to a ballooning federal deficit.
  
• They have an energy policy that protects profits for the oil companies, but does nothing to cut the price of gas at the pump.
  
• They tried to privatize Social Security, threatening one of the most successful programs in our nation's history.
  
• They spent months trying to enact the so-called "nuclear option" so they could pack the federal courts with right-wing ideologues.

Democrats know that together America can do better.  It's time to place the Democratic agenda at the center of the national debate!  If you believe in an open and honest government, a real strategy for success in Iraq, and the need to develop a responsible plan to rein in out-of-control energy prices, then we need you to endorse our common sense agenda today.
